Day 8 - Thursday 19th October

Today we woke up a little earlier than we had been over the last couple of days. Our first activity of the day was a visit to the Wenzhou Museum where we learnt about different Chinese cultures that are celebrated here in Wenzhou and across China.  This was very exciting as we got to see the difference between how we celebrate traditions to how they do in China. After that, we went to Central Square.  We saw a huge building that belonged to the government. We then went to the school to participate in our final lesson and the leaving performance.  Our final lesson was caligraphing where we learnt how to paint like the ancient Chinese. After this, we watched and performed in the farewell ceremony in which we got to see all the different talented students at Nan Pu and our less talented students from the Academy.  Finally we ate a goodbye meal with teachers, students and even the families that we had visited on a previous evening.

Day 5 - Monday 16th October

Today we went to visit our sister school 'Wenzhou Napu Experimental Middle School'.   All of the students were really nice and welcoming.  First, we had a meeting with Principal Qu and some students showed us around the school. Next, we had a Chinese lesson and a paper cutting class. Then after lunch, we used 3D pens.   A fterwards we had PE in which we did some martial arts and basketball.  We were then taken out for dinner by the school.   On the way back to the coach we saw some ‘Granny Dancing’ in which a few students (mainly Mia) partook in.  We then went back to the hotel, debriefed and then relaxed before bed.

Day 4 - Sunday 15th October

Today, we visited one of Shanghai’s biggest malls and we looked around for one hour.   It was so big that some of us got lost. We had lunch in a local restaurant which had some interesting food as well. After lunch we started to make our way to the train station which is next to the airport.  Amy was already there. We got on the high speed train that travelled at a speed of over 250mph at 2.15pm and we arrived at Wenzhou at 6.25pm. Nearly all the towers were lit which made the city bright. We arrived at the hotel and went out for dinner in a restaurant 5 minutes away. They had a lot of fish and seafood. We all went back to the hotel and the day was done.

Day 3 - Saturday 14 October

Saturday 14 October After breakfast at the hotel, we set off on the bus to our first destination, Shanghai Tower.   To get to the top we had to go in the lift that travelled at 18 meters per second.  At the top there was an amazing view of the river and the nearby skyscrapers.  After that, we visited the Jade Temple which was full of grand gold statues.  Happy Birthday Tom!!  As a special treat Tom was made to carry the flag all day and was nicknamed “Captain Tom” by Lin.  As an extra birthday treat Tom was also nominated to write the blog for today.  Over to you Tom. After admiring the view at the waterfront, we had lunch at a restaurant.  Our next stop was Yu Garden.  It was extremely crowded and people kept taking photos of us.  After looking around the shops, we headed back to the hotel.  We had tea at a nearby restaurant where we celebrated my birthday.  Thank you to Lin for organising a birthday cake.

Thursday 12 October & Friday 13 October (travelling) Day One:   We got a coach to the airport, then at 4:30pm we got on the plane to Istanbul and after about 2 hours we set off to China. When we landed, we met Miss Lin and got on the bus for an hour.  We dropped off our luggage so we could go and eat.  After eating, we got to our rooms and had a rest after the long journey.
